Tracy went inside the room. Marc was lying in his bed, his right leg suspended in mid-air and a nurse was changing some of the bandages around his head.
"Marc?"
He looked at her, and for one second she believed there was a glimpse of recognition in his eyes. But then it was gone, like a mall flame that tried to burn bright and then lost the will to survive.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Tracy and I have come to take care of you"
Tracy and Tessa went back home. She wanted to stay at the hospital but on the other hand she didn't want to make Tessa feel even more frightened about this all. She neither wanted to leave her alone nor make her stay at the hospital with her. That night Tessa fell asleep while she was still crying silently in her bed.
Tracy woke up very early and went to the hospital. She wanted to know his situation while Tessa was not there. She asked for the doctor. After about half an hour he appeared at the end of the surgery department corridor. They walked through each other. When they came face to face, the doctor looked unhappy. He said "Good morning. Marc has shown a big effort last night. I guess that he will come over this very fast. But... There is a little problem."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, in these cases, it is quite common. Curiously, right before going into the surgery he was still remembering about the accident. The first... and the last thing he asked me before the surgery was his daughter."
"So?"
"So, now, he doesn't remember anything. Neither the accident nor his name."
Tracy and Tessa passed hours waiting at the hospital. Finally the doctor showed up. Both of them went next to him. They were begging to him with their eyes to tell them some good news...
He said "Are you his wife?"
Without waiting for the reply of her mother, Tessa said "how is my father? Will he live?" She was crying. She didn't want to lose his father at the very first day she found him.
Marc opened his eyes. Everything was black... and then little white dots started to replace the darkness. White dots became white shapes, became white objects, white people. The bright light became so intense he almost started to cry. His head was killing him. Something was killing him.
Yes, he was a fast driver but his angel had to be on holiday that day. On the way back another fast driver came from the opposite direction and he couldn't escape from...
One hour later, Tracy received a phone call. That was Tessa. Crying on the other side. "Mum, come here". The nurse took Marc's phone from her little hand. She told her the address and also told her that Tessa was going very well but she couldn't say the same thing for Marc.
