"Wait mummy... This is the first time I have the chance to see my real father. Can't we stay a little bit more?"
She looks straight into her eyes with the warmest smile in the world that Marc had ever seen. Tracy sits down again. She says "ok my love, If you want, of course you can stay more". She caressed her back and took her hand into hers... "Listen my dear, if you wish, stay with your father as long as you want. I have to do some other things.
Follow up:
You can call me any time and I will come to pick you up." She took a piece of napkin from the table and wrote down her phone number. She gave it to Marc. She looked tired to him as she gave the paper. "You will call me, won't you, when she ask you to do so? Cause I got to take some air. I have to get used to your senseless, mathematical, over logic way of taking life. I wouldn't say so but apparently, I forgot about it. It seems that I have to find a way to live with it, as you haven't changed at all". Marc was sorry about the way that things were happening. He realized immediately that he couldn't show even half of his joy and happiness of seeing her. It was just that this realistic side of his was always stronger than himself. The first sentences coming out from his mouth had always been the silliest realities that everybody is well aware and nobody needs to say. It was a pity that instead of taking Tracy into her arms and giving her a big hug (as he preferred to do) he just asked about the blood tests. Now the result of this first meeting was already a big catastrophe. He made her crazy. But at least he had the little one, Tessa, with her brilliant eyes, wanting to stay with him. He could share his moments with her and try to get into her world as much as he could. He quickly wrote down his number when thinking about these all and gave it to Tracy. He stood up, hugged her tightly and whispered in her ear: "I promise that it will be different next time".
